Well that blew the cobwebs out, along with a number of muscles and joints that have been in hibernation. There seemed to a good-sized circus of gainfully underemployed on the water, the usual suspects from the WASTed,  plus a number of keen commuters along with the mighty MH Mobbers.  I reckon pretty much all of them will give it a worthy Google review: good wind, good weed, and enough water for an inside run if you wanted.

I was keen to make a start on testing my stash of bizarre prototype fins. The first on the board today was an 21 cm 8% chord with a massively over developed fillet.

  Coodanup,  fangys,

Yep...   that was a good arvo sail in the weedy goodnes, but did get tiring at the end ,and nearly came off in the midle of the thick weed.

Had the old wintec kinetic, 5.8 ka kon, with 50- 17cm weedy.             CoolWink

Another fun fangy session.

A few of us launched at Wamba st, wasn't too bad, the rest seemed to come from John st, probably less of a walk out, but a longer upwind run in chop.

I made a good choice today, 55cm board, 5.7 speed and 17cm@55deg.

Didn't actually blast through the weed bank, but it was possible at speed in a chanel. A few times I missed a channel I went through sideways.

From Wamba st looked like the speed bank was long enough for a NM, so I tried it, but ran into chop towards the end of the run.

However, there was a great 2s section on the inside of the weed bank, very flat at optimum angle, as you can see from my tracks.

note, all the 10s runs are in the same place, that's my top speed spot.

Improved my over 80 2s and 5X10, got to be happy with that.

Just pure fin porn there Fangy.  I see you stil have the broken nose though...do you think that makes any difference? Sorry to hear the solar storm effected your 40kt run...I guess many will report the same issue?

Flex I sanded out the broken nose and made it the duck's nuts at the filling with epoxy stage (after this photo was taken). The fin isn't a win atm, but with some of my usual linisher carnage, I am sure I will get something a little more useful.

Nice fin fangy. I was going to go out and do 40, i wasn’t worried about the geo storm wiping it if I got it but I’d want to do it on that backside clanging fin as it would be pretty scary I think.

Nice speeds, Mike! And it's good to see Fangy getting poetic again. Seeing that the weed seems good now, but will probably be dead again in January, Nina and I are looking into options to come back earlier next year, even if that requires a trip to a place like Borocay in the middle due to visa restrictions and a distinct lack of desire to return to the US when temperatures are near freezing.

Unforunately it's not a euphemismFrown

It's an infected sebaceous cyst, on antibiotics, but eventually will need to be cut out.

Peter, yes the weed is usually done by January, but would be cool to have you back here.

And for all those disbelieving my GPS data robbery caused by the gods - the Coodanup Foreshore has had a good Aurora Australis display (by our standards anyway.)

Elmo...just eughhhh!

Poor old Budgy smugglers won’t know what hit them when I turn up packin warp fins and blast into yet another dimension. Geo storm was seen this side as far north as port Macquarie - latitude-ish Geraldton. Was a cold night. I left camera at home, maybe I could see It naked eye or I was just imagining it over Jimmy’s beach. Decrepit’s GPS seems to be working good, nice speed 👍

Fingers is beating me on the NM, we both have 28s not far apart, yesterday I saw a 28.71 on the watch, so though that may change things. But it's exactly the same as I already had, still under Fingers 28.74. But I had hope, the GPS on my head that I always post from, quite often is a bit higher than the watch.

So I plugged the watch data into GPSSpeedReader, and yes there was a small difference, BUT it went the wrong way, it's only a 28.6 something.

So I'm not too pleased with it at the moment!
