Cut short as catching up with Al and nerding out...just as I launched some idiot dropped a match in nearby Wireless Hill park and was soon a large bushfire..within 5 minutes there was 3 firefighting birds on the scene fighting the blaze so attention was distracted somewhat by all the action. Was a good steady breeze though (which obviously was not good for the firey's) and near dead flat in the shallows. iSonic96, SvT8.6, FF22(18)

Well that was a hoot 😀.
No wind when I arrived so thought we might get a masterclass from Boz on how to set up and tune his new board but luckily the wind came in.
Went out on da big gear and probably cost me a knt or 2 as the water state and wind was perfect but not used to sailing da 7.7 in those conditions. Was the best sail for a long time , Coods at its best.
Great company with Boz, Pete, Steve, Rob and Maree.

Late start at Rocko after running errands.
Garden Island chart was showing 25-30K, so I rigged the small combo...H85 + 5.0 + 460 SLR.
Got on the water at 5 and I was well powered out by the causeway, but there was a lot less pressure inshore.
Had a few good runs, then it started to fade, and after a long slog out from inshore, I called it and made my way downwind.
It was a fun little sesh. I was never fully lit inshore, so no big speeds, but it was a nice cruise on the small kit.

Top day but rookie mistake not taking the small gear. Mission was to test the new Radix 98 and by all accounts was supposed to be a light wind cruise. Took all the gear out of the car and loaded the 7.1 KAR which I sail only once or twice a year with the intention of testing the light wind capabilities of the Radix 98. Well it looked promising when we got to Coods, light breeze with a hint of booting to possibly 15knots. How wrong was I, the 15knots lasted all of 10 min till it booted +20-25, nothing left but sail with the 7.1 totally rigged wrong for the strong winds but persisted with it. Board handled so much better than expected with a small 18 fin, only issue was the large sail, by my normal sailing the go to sail is a 5.7.
Brilliant day, but didn't make the most of it considering it was probably close to ideal conditions with flat water and 20-25. Well at least for the 10 min of 15knots the Radix meets expectations and now I know that even for the lighter conditions a 6.3 would have been sufficient, and when I was comfortable on Port tack the Radix shows good turn of speed so itiching to put the 5.7 on it to unlock what it can really do. Time to retire the 7.1 and stick to my usual setup.
